PROJECTS

1

Emergency Food Pantry

In a "normal" setting the emergency food pantry serves an average of 180 families in crisis per month.  Because of government assistance due to COVID, that number has diminished quite a bit but the need of an Emergency Food Pantry is still there and Inner City has been assisting families throughout the Pandemic. They are helped for a few days to bridge through a crisis. Families are limited to two visits for our food pantry services per year. The food pantry is open M-F from 9:15 to 11 a.m.

This program benefits from the Thanksgiving 365 Fundraising Campaign.

2

Emergency Clothing

Emergency clothing services focus on families and individuals in need with special attention to school children. This program also includes shoes for children who have a referral from their teacher or school counselor. Please call Inner City for more information at 210.224.7239.

A Summer Job-Training Program runs concurrently where neighborhood youth volunteer for the summer program.

6

Christmas Toy Sale

The Christmas Toy Sale sells toys to neighbors in need at extremely low prices (10% of the original price) so that parents may pick out what THEY want to give to their children for Christmas without having to suffer the economic crisis of the Christmas season when they are already on an extremely limited budget.

Additional On-Going Services

  • Many special activities such as informal counseling for individuals and families.

  • Through providing the use of the facility, Inner City supports neighborhood family events such as baby showers, wedding receptions and funeral receptions.

  • Extensive community service opportunities for persons serving probation or doing community service hours for school or church.
